چکیده
Fingerprinting is a technique extensively used by law enforcement to identify criminals when traces are left behind which uniquely match a suspect. Digital fingerprinting is a conceptually similar technique. It canbe used to trace intellectual property infringement on virtual components already on the market. The method consists of translating virtual components into a compact sequence of symbols, or signature, which is then deposited in a database. Foundries can access the database for every submitted circuit to ensure that it does not embed any illegally obtained virtual components. Unlike watermarking, fingerprinting does not require modifications to a design. Yet the approach is robust and simple.

Introducing The Concept Of Design Reuse Into Undergraduate Digital Design Curriculum
Intellectual property (IP) reuse based system design is becoming an industry standard recently. However, current educational system is not effective in the training of engineers who design by reuse and design for reuse. In this paper, we report our experience at the University of Maryland at College Park (UMCP) in introducing the concept of design reuse into the introductory digital logic desig...

The semiconductor roadmap estimates the design complexity for digital systems to continue to increase according to Moore’s law. In the next years, embedded systems with 10ths of millions of transistors on one chip will be standard technology. System-on-Chip (SOC) designs will integrate processor cores, memories and special-purpose custom logic into a complete system fitting on a single die. How...
متن کاملIP-Based Library for analog design reuse
The main objective of this work is to improve the design flow of analog and mixed signal integrated circuits. Purely digital systems profit from standardized tools and methods which allow automatic synthesis. In the analog domain, automatic synthesis has probably no sense and efforts must be done towards developing consistent and coherent CAD (Computer Aided Design) methods and tools. The main ...
متن کاملSpecification and Synthesis of Customizable Interfaces of Soft IP Cores using VHDL+
In this paper, we present a Design for Reuse technique suitable for Soft IP cores, implemented as algorithmic or RT synthesis model, that focuses on customizable IP interface implementations. By exploiting the features of VHDL+, an extension to VHDL, we separate the specifications of the IP functional behaviour and IP interface protocols into different design units. Interface customization is d...
متن کاملBehavioral Virtual Components for Embedded Image Compression Systems
Digital imaging applications have to deal with increasingly large images and require more and more efficient compression techniques. The JPEG2000 standard has been recently issued in order to fulfill these new requirements. In this paper, we focus on the design of an image compression system based on reusing IP cores. We consider that traditional methods for hardware design at the RT level suff...
